Episode 6 – Six Months!

*DRUMROLL*
It's the 6th month!!!
Yep, this is the 6th episode of Mom Haven. Firstly, I would like to welcome anyone reading this blog for the first time and give a big shout-out to my returning readers. This blog is just a random monthly rant to mark my daughter's monthly milestone. So you can probably tell how excited I am to be here, at the 6th month finally.
No one can possibly imagine how this moment feels for me; I'm feeling so many things at once. I have been preparing for this over the past four weeks – the photo shoot for my baby, a full prep on meals, and trying to figure out a lot – it really has been a roller coaster of emotions.
If you read the last episode, you'll know that I've been exclusively breastfeeding. That means no formula and no water, just mama's liquid silver. Today's the day my sweet daughter will be getting her first taste of water and trying out family meals. We'll take it one step at a time with this new experience, trying, retrying, learning, unlearning, and looking out for allergies and favorites.
I have a dedicated jotter for homemade puree recipes and creative home meals. Every now and then, my daughter's godmothers send me recipe videos, articles, and ideas – the energy is so real, it makes me feel like the real work has only just started, and we've been playing up until now. My daughter seems as excited as I am; she's been dragging our plates and spoons since December, smacking her lips at every meal she sees.
I am super grateful for a lot – if you asked me how I feel right now, it'd be all smiles and laughter despite the troubles along the way. All I can say is that God gave me my daughter, and he's been forever faithful, holding things down for me. If you've met Tanzeelah before, you already know what I'm trying to say – she's such a happy child, I'm not even sugarcoating it. I can't even get the right words to describe how calm she is, she's perfect in her own way, and I wouldn't want it another way.
I like that when we go out, she's always so pleasant with people we meet, she's always ready to smile back when you smile at her, she always has this "hello" expression and I can't wait for her to start talking. I bet my neighbors can count how many times they've heard her cry the whole six months, and when she does cry, you'll know it's trouble because all this little human wants is to eat, sleep and play – no wahala at all, that's the life she's been living.
We are in a new phase now, and I'm so excited. I pray that God makes it as easy and blissful as the first half. Thank you for reading!
