By now, you must've received our email about today's celebration, and you probably already know about our first haven mom - Mrs. Oredola Kayode - and our interview with her.

Before we get into the interview, we would like to thank every single one of our subscribers once again and welcome those who are here to read the interview - you should really subscribe too, we promise not to disturb you :)

We would also like to use this opportunity to invite other moms to be interviewed and to encourage you to share your motherhood stories, rants, and lessons. Your story could help a struggling mother out there.

Men are not left out here, we would also love to hear from the fathers who have stories and rants to share. Please reach out to us - you can do so via email (Faheedahoye@gmail.com) or WhatsApp (+234 809 061 4213), by leaving a message on our contact form here on the website or on Instagram. We look forward to hearing from you!

Now, let's get into it.

Me: Briefly introduce yourself 😊

Oredola: My name is Oredola Kayode-Sanni, a psychologist, wife, and mom of 2 boys.

Me: What has been the hardest period of motherhood for you, and how did you deal with it?

Oredola: The hardest period for me would be the pregnancy of my second son - I was physically, mentally, and spiritually drained. I was sick to my stomach all through. I couldn't really deal with it. I just counted the days and hoped to God I would give birth latest at 38 weeks, and I gave birth at 37 weeks.

Me: What is your best advice to moms of little kids?

Oredola: Everything is a phase, and there is light at the end of every tunnel, and in this journey, there will be lots of tunnels.

Me: If you could choose, would you rather have a baby or a toddler?

Oredola: If I could have the baby without pregnancy, then yes, baby all the way, they stay still and don't talk back 😂😂

Me: What do you most look forward to when thinking about your children becoming young adults?

Oredola: I look forward to the kind of relationship I will have with them. I look forward to them being eager to see and speak to me. I look forward to being proud of them no matter what.

Me: What are you most afraid of when you think about your children becoming young adults?

Oredola: I am most afraid of them losing their innocence. I am afraid of the world changing them. The world can be a horrible place, and the older they get, the more they realize it. The world has a way of crushing spirits, and I can only pray to God it doesn't destroy theirs.

Me: What is the hardest thing about having two children?

Oredola: I am currently in the early stages of having two children, and what's most challenging for me is being constantly tired and having to show up for both of them. I find that I am more irritable because of how exhausted I am. It's making me say a whole lot of apologies to my first child.

Me: If you had to choose one parenting mantra for yourself, what would it be?

Oredola: All parents mess up their kids, some more than others and some more positively than others.

Me: Looking back, if you could do anything differently in motherhood, what would it be?

Oredola: I would homeschool longer than I did.

Me: What are you most proud of in your motherhood journey?

Oredola: How intentional I am and how consistently conscious I am of how I affect my kids.

Me: What are the significant challenges of parenting that you've faced so far?

Oredola: Finances 😂😂

Me: What do you think you could've done differently as a first-time mom?

Oredola: I could have held my baby more. I held him a lot, but he is getting bigger and older, and I just wish I could hold him one more time and also take more pictures with me in them.

Me: How do you balance/manage work life and being a mom?

Oredola: I don't, I struggle, and I am not ashamed to say it, but planning everything ahead makes me struggle less.

Me: What advice do you have for naive young moms or soon-to-be moms?

Oredola: Motherhood is hard, but you won't want it any other way. While you are at it, take it one day at a time and do not lose yourself (it's very possible to lose yourself, don't think you are better than those who did, just be conscious of putting yourself first more than you do second).

Me: What is the most beautiful memory you've created with your children?

Oredola: Oh, I have lots of beautiful memories with my babies. My first loves music, so singing and dancing with him always makes a special memory. The first time I bathed my second also felt so special to me.

Me: How and when did you decide to be a mom blogger?

Oredola: I started mom blogging in 2021, I am passionate about intentional parenting, and I find it easy to influence moms around me. It was only selfish that I didn't share it with the world - that and the fact that my family didn't allow me to rest till I started blogging 😂😂

Me: What is the weirdest/strangest question you've been asked about motherhood or childbirth?

Oredola: Hmmmmm… Did I poop during delivery 😂😂

Me: What are your favorite things about your children?

Oredola: Well, my first is a soldier, a true choleric, clumsy just as I am, and as bold as a lion. My second is quick to smile, a fragile, sweet boy at heart - you can tell.

Me: What gets you going when the going gets tough?

Oredola: Remembering that I am the best mom for my babies, how do I know? The way they look into my eyes and smile, it carries a thousand messages to my heart.
